Namiuki Agency presents
Call Out for Dancers MUGUWA | Dance Theatre Production ABOUT Salaam Festival is a Manchester-based biennial festival that explores the future of Muslim art and culture through the production of original work and presents artists across disciplines and genres. Salaam Festival will debut from 20 - 25 July 2022 as an artist and community led festival presenting work from across the spectrum of performing arts, visual arts and culture.
Muguwa is a dance piece which explores the duality, fluidity and anchoring within man’s journey. This is one of Salaam festival's original commissions. Director and Choreographer Abdul ‘Abdanger’ Kinyenya (Kampala) and Creative Producer Antonio Ssebuuma Bukhar (Leeds) showcase the greater struggle taking place deep inside man’s battle within himself. Using the influence of martial arts and original music and soundscapes from Faizal Mostrixx (Paris), this exhilarating contemporary dance piece highlights themes of identity, insight, trauma and transformation of the male narrative. Abdul, Antonio and Faizal are all part of the Uganda-based Tabu Flow Dance Crew. We are specifically looking for 6 male identifying black and brown dance artists. They will work with a choreographer for 4 weeks to create a new dance theatre piece with 2 shows happening on 23rd and 24th July 2022.
